Foster Dogs
We work with a local animal shelter (www.pupandcatco.com) and provide a temporary home for dogs in need. The dogs make much better pets, after they're housebroken, crate trained, and have gotten used to living with a family, as opposed to living in a kennel.

Amber 2008 Amber is our current foster dog. She's 6 years old and weighs about 30 lbs. After being in a home for 5 years, Amber's family no longer wanted her. I can't, for the life of me, figure out why! She's the best little house dog, crate trained and well behaved! She's gotten a raw deal out of life, but hopefully there's a perfect home out there for her! |

Walter 2008 I didn't foster Walter, but I'm taking credit for his adoption! Walter was an adorable Bassador, and when our friends, Don and Arline, were looking for a playmate for their dog, Fancy, I told them about Walter. The two dogs hit it off instantly, and Walter keeps Don and Arline on their toes! (But they really should have disciplined him when he stole the ham instead of laughing at him!)

Bonnie 2007-2008 I called Bonnie a Bog Hound, and even put it on her flyer at adoptions. It was pretty funny because people came up and read her sheet and said, "Oh, she's a Bog Hound." like it was a real breed. Well, it is! She's a Big Ol' Girl Hound! Bonnie was with us for 11 months, and it nearly broke our hearts to say goodbye, but a wonderful family came along for her! In addition to mom and dad, she's got 3 human kids, 2 Chihuahuas (She loved Caesar!) and a cat in her new home. Her mom told me that they can't get over what a great dog she is! She sleeps next to their bed, and they don't even mind the snoring!

Caesar 2007, Lucky #15
Caesar came to the shelter after his owner passed away and no family member would take him. He was confused and frightened, but after a little TLC, he came out of his shell. My hubby, who hates chihuahuas, decided this one had become part of the family so quickly, that we had to keep him. As of 7/7/07, Caesar became a permanent member of the family. Caesar has his own page here!

Willy 2007 Willy was a breeder's dog. We think he was used for stud and then when the breeder was done, they got rid of Willy. He's another one I could have easily kept for my own! I really fell in love with him. Fortunately, along came a family who seemed just perfect for Willy, and his new mom works from home, so Willy's not left alone all day. Willy also has a sweet 9 yr. old girl to play with. Since he bonded so well with my own daughter, I was glad to see him have another little girl to love him. |

Jellybean 2007 Jelly had juvenile cataracts, which was been corrected with surgery. She also is allergic to wheat, so she needed a special family, willing to take care of her special needs. She was the perfect house dog and got adopted by a wonderful couple and their dog Brodie. Jelly and Brodie made friends immediately, and they even looked like they could have been related. |

Faith 2007 Faith was a puppy mill dog, used for producing litter after litter of puppies until she got too old and then she was sold at a dog auction in Mo. In her short 5-6 years, this dog had probably never seen life outside of a crate. She was terrified of everything. We worked with her and were making slow progress, and then the perfect home came along, a woman who'd had an abused schnauzer that she'd just lost to cancer. I'll be keeping in touch with Faith's new mom to hear how she's progressing.

Brillo 2007 Not having small dogs, I really enjoyed having Brillo for a lap dog. He's such a doll. His first week here, he wouldn't even make eye contact, but he quickly learned that being loved was a good thing. He went to live with a wonderful couple, and they live fairly close by, so I'll be going for a visit as soon as I'm sure Brillo's adjusted to his new home.

Bridget 2007 Ok, I didn't foster Bridget, but I'm taking credit for this one! Bridget was adopted as a puppy and well loved and taken care of, but had to be returned at 11 mos. because of a very sad home situation. It was heartbreaking for everyone and poor Bridget didn't understand what had happened to her home. When our church secretary, who's hubby is my daughter's youth choir director, mentioned that they were thinking of getting a playmate for their golden, Eddie, I knew Bridget was the perfect dog for them! Bridget and Eddie were instant buddies and her new mom and dad fell in love with her too!

Hobie 2006-2007 Hobie was abandoned, left with some dog food, along a deserted dirt road in N. Ga. A kind lady spotted Hobie and took him food and water but couldn't catch him. He waited for two months, believing that someone was coming back for him. Finally, with the aid of tranquilizers, Hobie was caught and brought into the shelter. I REALLY wanted to keep this big goofball, but along came the perfect home for him. When I went to do the home visit, and met Hobie's new bud, Harley, a rescued rottweiler, I knew this was too good a home to pass up. Harley's a big, sweet goof, just like Hobie and Hobie's new mom and dad are dedicated dog people. The rest of Hobie's life is going to be spent, playing, being loved, pampered, and maybe a little spoiled!

Flying Nun 2006 After being adopted and returned, and in the program for far too long, Nun, who now goes by Lucy, finally got her forever home as of 2/2/08! She was adopted by a wonderful young woman who seemed to match Nun's energy and enthusiasm! All of us at P&C are so happy for her.

Sam frequently e-mails me to let me know how he's doing.

Sam 2006 I always said I wasn't a Jack Russell person, and Sam was determined to prove me wrong! He was a ball of energy and a barrel of fun! (Thank goodness we had Spike to tire him out!) Sam was adopted by one of my best friends, and he's adjusted well to being the center of the universe in his new home!

Bea 2005 - 2006 Bea came to us in Dec. of 2005, 6 yrs. old, and neglected. Her old owners were going to have a baby and didn't want her anymore. Because they'd stopped giving her her thyroid medication, she gained 40 pounds. Her nails were so overgrown that she couldn't walk properly. After 8 months, hubby and I had pretty much decided that Bea was going to stay with us, even though she didn't get along well with Spike. Then, along came her new mom, a wonderful lady who was ready to make Bea the queen of her home. Even though I will miss her terribly, I'm thrilled that Bea and her new mom are so happy together.

Wilma 2005 Wilma came into our home as a hurricane, but turned into an absolute gem! She was so smart and loving. We had her about 3 weeks before she got adopted.

Margo 2005 Margo is one of my happiest happy endings. My sister and b-i-l had lost their old dog to cancer, and after hearing me talk about what a wonderful dog Margo was, they decided to adopt her, sight unseen. Fortunately, it was love at first sight, all the way around, and Margo now lives in her new home in Ct.

Max 2005 Max really stole my heart! This guy was such a little clown. I called him a Bassador--part lab, part basset hound. He made me laugh just to look at him. The couple who adopted him, had another low-rider, just like Max, that they'd adopted a few years before, and Max and Issac hit it off beautifully. |

Tessa 2005 Tessa's owner took her to the vet to be put down, when she had Parvo. The kind hearted vet offered to keep Tessa, and she lived at the animal hospital for 5 months before she came to us. She was pretty shell shocked by the real world, afraid of every new thing, and clung to Spike like she was his shadow. After a few days, we could see what a sweet girl she was. She got adopted on her first time out. |

Hoover 12/04-2005 Hubby said Hoover was a guy's dog. While my two dogs got up and went out in the morning, and then came back in, Hoover would lie around until about 10 am and then slowly get up, stretch and want to go out. |

Chester 2001 Chester was a beautiful golden mix. I was very happy that he went to a home with two dogs, since he loved to play. |
